Portland State University has a number of resources available that
can provide support in meeting ergonomic needs.
Classroom and Audiovisual Services
Classroom and Audiovisual Services maintains the media equipment in the technology classrooms and the instructional computing classrooms around campus; they can provide assistance to faculty who are using this equipment. To request assistance, send an email to av@pdx.edu

FAP Building Maintenance
The facilities maintenance crew is very effective with remodels and
systems furniture. They are involved with most projects on campus and work with many vendors. In
addition to finding cost effective solutions to meet the needs of a department, their work is
consistent with the values of Portland State University. They do charge for materials and
services.

FAP Electrical Services
The facilities electrical crew takes care of all power
requirements on campus. In addition to other services, they can improve the work environment by
installing, replacing, or upgrading electrical outlets, dimmer switches, light fixtures, safety cord covers,
and lamps. They will replace bad components for free, but they do charge for time and materials when
installing new ones. |
PSU Surplus
Facilities and Planning handles a large volume of surplus
furniture. More often than not, they will be able to provide a suitable straight,
freestanding workstation. Sometimes, they will have basic task chairs which are appropriate for small
to regular proportioned individuals.

PSU ReUses!
PSU ReUses! is a wonderful source for free office supplies.
They will sometimes have copyholders, palm rests, stackable monitor bases, or footrests;
they may have other useful equipment. You may want to visit here before making a purchase. |
Telecommunications and Networking Services
Telecommunications and Networking Services offers telephones, speakerphones,
and telephone headsets. They do charge for equipment and services. |
Affirmative Action
Employees who have a documented ADA qualified disability sometimes
require expensive accommodations. When a department can't afford the full cost of an ADA
accommodation, Affirmative Action may be able to provide assistance.

Disability Resource Center
The Disability Resource Center can provide assistance to registered
students who have a documented ADA qualified disability. Among other services, they can provide
chairs and tables to classrooms to fit the specific needs of a student.

Assistive Technology Center
The Assistive Technology Center provides services and assistive
technology for persons with orthopedic, visual, hearing, and learning impairments. The ATC is
available to Portland State students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the general public.
